2004 Annual Conference

Business Meeting

Greenville, SC Westin-Poinsett Hotel

Call to Order – Brent called the meeting to order at 10:15 am.

Reports –

Secretary – Hart Hayden stated that minutes were being taken as everyone speaks

Treasurer – Greg Habib passed out a statement (see attached)

Historian – Boyce Cox reported that history is being made as we speak

Scholarship – N/A at this time

Newsletter – N/A at this time

Membership – deferred until new business section

Old Business – Nothing to be discussed at this time

New Business –

Election of Officers – Corey Feraldi stated that the nominations were still open,

and asked if there were any additions or corrections. He stated that write-in nominations would be accepted. Otherwise, the ballots would be accepted as printed.

Conference Evaluations – Brent Stewart asked that the conference evaluation

forms be completed and returned to the center aisle to collect. He stressed the importance of these evaluations and to make sure that all completed one.

Recognition of conference committee members – Brent Stewart and Bernice

Bryant recognized the many committee members that came together to make the conference a meaningful, fun and successful event. They were:

Brent Stewart – A crown for his wonderful leadership and a large notebook with

all of his many emails to Bernice.

Meredith Mims McTigue – for all the wonderful local arrangements

Dave Sargent – for his assistance to Meredith the local arrangements and his AV

assistance to the speakers

Dwight Bailey – for arranging the closing keynote speaker

Amber Morgan – for arranging the Pub Crawl and other local arrangements

John Barker – for arranging the Furman Univ. music student to play for us

Greg Habib – for being a great treasurer and helping with the hospitality suite

Laura Foster – for arranging the Fun Run/Walk

Leslie Moreland – for arrangements with games, food, etc. in the hospitality suite

Susan Gasque/Kathy Fowler – for arranging the exhibitor

Deb Herman/Braid/McHugh/Pam Angle – for arranging the sponsors

Whitley Moretti/Corey Feraldi – for door prize arrangements

Jane Locke/Molly Fout/Jennifer Wells – registration table arrangements

Allison Brown-Owens – arranging the newsletter and conference brochure

Sarah Trice/Charlie Brock – for arranging the new members orientation

Hart Hayden – for arranging members to introduce guest speakers

Amanda Black – for assisting with the fall Drive In

Kim Erwin – for buying all the presenter gifts, hospitality room refreshments, etc

Recognition of current Board Members – Brent Stewart and Bernice

recognized the current year’s Board Members. They are:

New members/ongoing members membership drive award – this year,

Milliken & Co. donated a carpet as a prize for the new member recruitment initiative. The winner of this year’s drawing was Jennifer Wells.

New Officers announced – As the new Past President, Brent Stewart was

presented a plaque and gavel to recognize all of his service to SCACE this past year as President. The new Board Members for 2004-2005 are:

President – Bernice Bryant

President Elect – Meredith Mims McTigue

Past President – Brent Stewart

Vice President – Allison Brown-Owens

Treasurer – Greg Habib

Secretary – Hart Hayden

Historian – Boyce Cox

College Representatives – Dwight Bailey & Linda Robinson

Employer Representatives – Jane Locke & Whitley Moretti

Site for the 2005 Annual Conference – the SCACE annual conference for 2005

will be held in Charleston, SC at the Francis Marion Hotel. The dates for the conference are April 27 - 29, 2005.

Conference Committee Volunteers for 2005 – Meredith Mims McTigue called

for any volunteers to assist with the planning of the 2005 conference. She stated that it takes the help/work of many people to make a successful conference and to please call her to let her know if anyone wants to help with the conference.

Summer/Fall Drive-In – plans are still being made for the drive-in for the

summer/fall. Date and site are to be determined. Bernice Bryant and Meredith Mims McTigue are planning this event.

Other New Business – there was a call for other new business. None was called

for at this time.

Final Drawing for Door Prizes – Corey Feraldi and Whitley Moretti drew the

final door prizes and disbursed them. The 2 Grand Door Prizes were:

The Michelin Tires – Whitley Moretti

Conference Adjournment – There being no other business, the 2004 annual SCACE

conference adjourned at 11:40 am.
